The wine business circumstances in most of these writings are often for real; it's the personal stuff that is largely made up.
The blog as a source of "de-mythology" had run its course. It seemed better to tell people how the real wine world works by telling a story instead of the unvarnished truth.

I know a grape grower who sold his crop back in 1999 to a relatively well known 'chemist' winemaker in these parts, and was not paid for years.  Despite that he sold his grapes to him again in 04 and 05 I believe, only to be stiffed once more.  He never did get paid, the chemist bankrupted one business and opened another, the $$$ amount was too big for small claims court.  Out and out thievery!</description>
